Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a fundamental component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), provides a holistic approach to enhancing health and wellness by stimulating specific points on the body to restore balance and facilitate healing. This ancient practice aims to harmonise the flow of Qi (vital energy) along meridians, thereby promoting overall well-being. It is renowned for its natural and non-invasive methods in addressing both chronic and acute health conditions.

By inserting fine needles into acupoints, acupuncture effectively alleviates a wide range of ailments including pain management, stress reduction, digestive issues, and respiratory conditions.

Manipulation of the needles may elicit a “de-qi” (得气) sensation, characterised by numbness, a tolerable dull ache, or tingling at the needled sites that may radiate along the corresponding meridian pathways.

Acupuncture sessions are tailored to target individual health objectives, whether it’s boosting energy levels, strengthening immune function, or managing chronic pain. By restoring the body’s energy flow, acupuncture fosters relaxation, improves circulation, and enhances mental clarity. This therapeutic approach is both safe and effective, providing relief from conditions such as headaches, insomnia, arthritis, and fertility issues.

Acupuncture is beneficial for addressing a variety of conditions including:

  • Digestive disorders (e.g. gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis, hemorrhoids)
  • Emotional concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, insomnia)
  • Respiratory issues (e.g. sinusitis, rhinitis)
  • Gynecological challenges (e.g. menstrual pain, infertility)
  • Musculoskeletal ailments (e.g. arthritis, neck and back pain, muscle cramps, sciatica),
  • Neurological issues (e.g. headaches, migraines)

Acupuncture FAQs

How deep are the needles inserted?

The depth of needle insertion varies based on the condition being treated, the specific acupuncture points selected, as well as your physique, age, and overall health. Typically, needles are inserted approximately 1/4 to 1 inch deep.

Is acupuncture painful?

Most people experience minimal discomfort but tolerable effects during needle insertion, while others may feel no pain at all. Following insertion, sensations such as tingling, warmth, dull ache, numbness, or heaviness may occur locally or in distant parts of the body.

Typically, a course of treatment involves 5 – 10 sessions over several weeks. The frequency and duration of treatment depend on the type, severity, and complexity of your condition. Our TCM Physician will evaluate your condition and recommend an appropriate treatment plan tailored to your needs.

TCM Facial Acupuncture

Facial Acupuncture

TCM Facial acupuncture, also referred to as cosmetic acupuncture, is a natural and non-invasive therapy designed to enhance skin youthfulness and overall facial radiance.

Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, this method employs delicate needles (finer than typical acupuncture needles, approximately 0.12mm wide) strategically placed on the face and body to boost circulation, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin elasticity.

Skin conditions are often linked to internal imbalances involving the lung, such as toxin accumulation, stomach heat, blood heat, or deficiencies in blood or yin energy. Such internal imbalances will result in skin issues like wrinkles, acne, and eczema.

Facial acupuncture restores balance to the body’s Qi (vital energy) pathways, targeting signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, acne, and other facial concerns.

How Does Facial Acupuncture Work?
Facial acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of thin needles into specific meridian points across the body. By stimulating Qi flow and promoting overall balance and harmony within the body, this therapy supports skin rejuvenation and enhances overall skin health.

Benefits of Facial Acupuncture

  • Enhanced Facial Contours
Facial acupuncture stimulates facial muscles to improve muscle tone, resulting in firmer and tighter skin.
  • Radiant Skin Tone
Needling enhances blood circulation, promoting a natural glow and improved skin tone.
  • Firmer Skin & Reduction of Wrinkles and Fine Lines
The micro-trauma caused by needling stimulates skin tissue regeneration and collagen production, essential for maintaining skin elasticity and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
  • Acne Reduction
By addressing underlying issues like hormonal imbalances and weak digestion, facial acupuncture helps reduce acne breakouts.
  • Decreased Puffiness
Facial acupuncture promotes blood circulation and enhances lymphatic drainage, reducing fluid retention and alleviating puffiness in the face and eyes.
